Travis began his ministry as Bon Air's fourth pastor on June 1, 2002. He is a graduate of Samford University and earned the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Travis' twenty-five plus years of ministry have included missionary service in Nigeria. He is the author of Directionally Challenged (2007) and Tough Calls (2008). You might even see Travis on the sidelines of a football game this fall, for his favorite hobby is football officiating. Travis and his wife, Keri, have three children and a wonderful daughter-in-law.
Rev. Norman Burnes

Norman serves as the Senior Associate Pastor at the Bon Air Baptist Church. His responsibilities include the Care Ministries of the church. Norman is a graduate of Mercer University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He pastored churches in North Carolina and Virginia before going overseas to serve as a missionary in Israel and Greece. He then directed the orientation of missionaries at the Missionary Learning Center in Richmond for 13 years. Norman is married and his wife, Kathryn, works with the Chesterfield County School Board where she directs Homebound Education. They have three children.
Donna Allen
Children’s Ministry Coordinator

Donna came to Bon Air in November 2007 with years of volunteering, coordinating and leading in Children’s activities and worship. She served as Children’s Ministry Assistant and Intern at First Baptist Church, Richmond and completed a certification in Preschool and Children’s Ministry from the School of Christian Ministry, Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. Donna is a graduate of the Ivy School of Professional Art, Pittsburgh, a portrait artist and a nationally published illustrator. And for those that remember... Miller & Rhoads brought Donna to Richmond as a fashion illustrator. Donna is mom to Samuel, Estee and Anne.
Kakki Aydlotte
Associate Pastor for Member Mobilization

Serving for several years as the lay co-coordinator for Member Mobilization just further confirmed for Kakki that connecting members to meaningful places of service is her passion. In January 2004, she joined the staff as Associate Pastor for Member Mobilization. Her responsibilities include matching people's passions, gifts and personal style to the right ministry and developing leaders in the church. Kakki and husband Ron, members of Bon Air since 1967, have one son, a daughter-in-law, and nine grandchildren.
Rev. Valerie Carter

Valerie, a native of Long Island, New York, is the widow of Rev. Hylan Carter. She has two sons, Hylan III and Duane. She earned a BA in Sociology from Adelphi University, a Master of Divinity from the School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and a Master of Science in Sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has traveled on missions throughout the world, but is most passionate about missions at home with a particular emphasis on the poor. Her life’s mission is summed-up in the founding statement of the Woman’s Missionary Union which is, “The World for Christ, Hallelujah!”
Mickie Chapman
NorthStar Community Project Manager

Mickie came to NSC in April 2006. As project manager she enables the ministry to undertake adventures and organize all the details involved with making ministry happen at NSC. She loves solving problems that most people would decide were insurmountable and not worth tackling. Mickie is living out her “big dream” of helping NSC get the message of hope out to hurting people – one person at a time. Mickie has two daughters, a gem of a son-in-law, and a precious granddaughter – the apple of her eye!

Kim Boswell

Kim Boswell is the Children’s Ministry Coordinator for elementary children at Bon Air Baptist Church. Kim is also the Children’s Ministry Administrative Assistant. She has served in the Recreation Ministry with Upward Basketball and was the editor of the weekly Messenger. Kim has been a member of Bon Air Baptist since 1993, is married to Tim and has three children.
Chris Grantier

Chris is a long-time member of Bon Air Baptist Church, joining with her family when she was in the 3rd grade. A graduate of The University of Mary Washington, she has had a wide range of jobs including handling insurance claims, teaching high school and working with senior citizens doing music therapy for Alzheimer's patients and activities in local health care facilities. A pianist, songwriter, and singer, Chris has performed in secular bands for many years, but has always had a heart for music and worship. She was called as a volunteer to lead worship at BABC in 2000, and currently serves on staff.
Rev. Paul Honaker

Paul Honaker, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, is a graduate of Georgetown College (KY) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville where he earned his Master of Church Music degree. He is a member of the American Guild of Organists, American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, and the Virginia Baptist Male Chorale. At Bon Air Baptist, Rev. Honaker directs and/or administers twelve choirs and two interpretive movement ensembles. Since 1992, he has successfully administered a July Concert Series featuring Christian artists such as: Ken Medema, Nielson and Young, Greg Buchanan, The King’s Brass, Marty Goetz, Linda McKechnie, U.S. Navy Sea Chanters, The Penny Loafers, Voices of Lee, and Larry Bland & the Volunteer Choir. He and his wife, Linda, have one son.
Alberto Jimenez

Alberto nació en Costa Rica y a los 16 años recibió a Cristo como Salvador. Estudió cuatro años en el Instituto Bíblico en Buenos Aires, Argentina. En el 2005 vino a los Estados Unidos. Desde el 2006 sirve a Dios con Bon Air Baptist Church. Está casado a Travis y ellos tienen una hija.
Alberto was born in Costa Rica and accepted Christ as Lord and Savior at age 16. He studied at the Bible Institute in Buenos Aires, Argentina for four years. In 2005 he came to the United States. Since 2006 he serves God at Bon Air Baptist. He is married to Travis and they have one daughter.
Steve Law

Steve joined the staff at Bon Air in June 2005. Before coming to BABC, Steve served as a church administrator in Birmingham, Alabama. Steve grew up in Spain, where his parents were missionaries, and he later served as a two-year missionary there. He is a graduate of Houston Baptist University (BA), Baylor University (MBA), and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv/CE). He is also certified as a Fellow of Church Administration. Steve believes that effective church administration enables a church to live out God's will through good stewardship of its financial and human resources. Steve and his wife, Jennifer, are the parents of two children.
David Lyles

David's title hardly does justice to what he does in NSC. He produces our weekly TV show; he makes sure NSC Saturday Night has their video ready. David is living out his “big dream” of carrying God’s message of hope through the awesome venue of video. He is creative, persistent and dedicated to capturing one picture that communicates 1,000 words of hope. But the thing that makes David such an integral part of the NorthStar Community team is his faith – his belief that God has a big dream for all people. He wants to make sure this good news gets out to everyone. David has two wonderful sons and a marvelous wife-Carolyn.
Randy Lynn

Randy came to Bon Air Baptist Church in 2000 to serve as a volunteer audio technician for The Gathering worship service. The service grew and Randy is now the Director of Media at Bon Air Baptist. Randy worked as a disc jockey for 6 years, a news videographer/editor for 18 years and has 25 years of experience in broadcasting. He owns a company specializing in designing and installing audio, video and lighting systems in churches. Randy produces multi-media elements for our contemporary worship services and oversees the audio and video systems at Bon Air Baptist Church.

Rebecca Madison

Rebecca has been Richmond native for over 30 years. She has a Masters Degree in Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University, and taught history for four years in Chesterfield County Public Schools. She played Division I soccer in college and has a heart for recreation. She lives in Bon Air with her husband and three boys.

Teresa joined the staff of Bon Air Baptist Church as the NorthStar Community minister in January 2003 after holding the position as a volunteer for four years. NorthStar Community was founded on the conviction that people can be restored to health in every dimension of their life through Christ. Teresa is a graduate of the University of Virginia and is a certified biblical counselor. She and her husband, Peter, have been members of Bon Air Baptist for over 20 years and have three children.

Peggy Moore

Peggy joined the Bon Air Baptist staff in 1994 as the Director of Weekday Ministries. She now serves in that role and that of Preschool Ministries Coordinator. These preschool activities at Bon Air Baptist include Sunday school, iKIDS, parent-child dedications, and special events for our preschool families. Peggy is a graduate of George Mason University. She and her family have been members of Bon Air Baptist for over 20 years.
Raynell Reid

Raynell Reid is a member of Bon Air Baptist since March 2003. She has served on many committees and is currently the director of the School of the Arts. Raynell holds a BS (Business Education) from Virginia State University, a Master of Science degree in Business from VCU, and an Advanced Certificate in Administration and Supervision from VCU. Before retiring, Raynell worked for Richmond City Public Schools where she was the Supervisor of the Business and Information Technology program. Raynell is married to James Raymond Reid, Jr. They have one adult daughter.
John Sawyer

In mid-career, John began to take steps to prepare himself to follow wherever God’s Spirit would lead him. He didn’t realize that one day he’d be asked to consider the role of campus pastor for BABC and accepted this position in 2006. John brings a wealth of experience from the business world. When we began looking for a campus pastor, we looked to other multi-site churches for models. John fit the profile wonderfully. John and Lee Ann are the proud parents of two.
Garry Sims

Garry was born in Florida but was raised in Alabama. He came to know Christ while in prison in Alabama in 1981 and was then called into the ministry. Garry has been a minister in Virginia for the past 24 years. He has a wonderful wife, Betty, five daughters and six grandsons. His first granddaughter is due in May 2009.
Deborah Upton

Deborah joined the staff of Bon Air Baptist Church in August 2007. A native of Virginia, Deborah earned a B.A. from Averett University and an M.Ed. from the University of Louisville. Currently she is working on a master’s degree in ministry leadership at Rockbridge Seminary. Through the years she has served in churches and denominational life as a pastor’s wife, a professor at Baylor University, a missionary, a teacher, and a minister to children. Deborah is married to Dr. John Upton, Jr., Executive Director of the Baptist General Association of Virginia and the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. The Uptons enjoy being with their family—Christopher and fiancé Jenn; Richard, Michelle, Virginia, and Lila; and Emily, Will, and Desmond. Deborah enjoys reading, being at the river, and spending time with the grandchildren.
