Hurricane Florence Disaster Response
Hurricane Florence has the potential to affect millions of people in the Mid-Atlantic region of the country.
Bon Air Baptist Church will partner with the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) Disaster Response Team to love our neighbors to the south.
We will help in three ways: Praying, Giving, and Going
It’s hard to wait and not respond immediately, but as we wait, please begin to pray for your neighbors to the south as they and their families go through the storm and begin to experience the after-effects.
Bon Air Baptist Church will begin collecting for the work that needs to be done in the affected areas. This will be collected in two ways:
- Offering Envelope: Pick up a pink envelope on Sunday morning. Write Disaster Response on the envelope.
- Online Giving: Go to bonairbaptist.org/give and choose Disaster Response from the Giving Purpose drop down.
As soon as the disaster response team has set a base of operation for us, we will organize Bon Air Baptist Church teams to go and help. Get prepared to go.
- We are a response team.
That means we will go and do rebuilding and other long-term work.
- Get trained!
To be able to go and work through our partners, you will need to be trained. To get the online training, go to my.bgavdr.org.
If you were trained last year for Hurricane Harvey work, expect an email shortly about what we need to do to prepare when the base of operation is set.
- Let us know you're interested in going with Bon Air Baptist Church.
Fill out the Sign Up and Get Trained — Hurricane Florence Disaster Response form to let us know that you'd like to volunteer to go with us. We'll email you with the next steps.
