Hurricane Harvey...how could anyone find words to describe the devastation. Even at the time of this e blast...it continues to do damage beyond articulation.
We want you to know that our Missions Pastor, Otis Hall, is preparing the BABC strategic response in relationship with the BGAV (Baptist General Association of VA). As you know, Pastor Otis is from Houston, and he has had multiple conversations with Houston area pastors.
We recognize that we cannot respond alone. BGAV is in the midst of formulating a disaster relief response...quite frankly, Texas is not ready to receive an onslaught of people wanting to help...yet! Until such time as Texas is ready to receive on the ground recovery efforts, there are two ways we can help NOW!
The last two Sundays of this month we will highlight designated giving to the relief efforts of Hurricane Harvey. One hundred percent of ALL monies received will be sent to the BGAV to help support disaster relief ministries (feeding units, mud-out units, washer/dryer units, shower units, children's support units, etc.). At the appropriate time, BGAV will coordinate for volunteer teams to go and work - this will be needed long term! Please make checks and donations payable to BABC and ear note them for disaster relief or Hurricane Harvey. We have also added an option to our online giving--PushPay. Under Giving Purpose, select Houston Flood Relief. You may click here to make a donation. You do not have to wait until the end of the month...you may give any time.
Very soon there will be instructions available on providing "flood buckets" and "hygiene kits." Stay tuned as per instructions and where they can be taken (designation sites to be named soon). BGAV is not new to disaster response efforts, and we want to stand with them as they help us to help others!
