Location: Buford Road Campus

Responsibilities: This position will partner with the Missions Pastor (70%) and the staff ministry leaders (30%) that make up the Missions department. This position will help fulfill the vision and mission of Bon Air Baptist Church through a wide variety of administrative responsibilities. S/he will be a point of contact and resource to various lay ministry leaders and will balance the needs and schedule of all ministries involved.


  • Pastoral Representative – Effectively represent pastors to a broad array of contacts inside and outside the church; maintain positive relationships and effective networks
  • Help members, regular attendees, and visitors get connected to Missions ministries of Bon Air Baptist Church
  • Evaluate local service opportunities for Bon Air Baptist Church to improve community engagement and support
  • Collaborate and partner with all ministries of the church
  • Coordinate regular training sessions for mission opportunities
  • Actively lead church membership in connecting the church’s vision in the community
  • Collaborate with other area organizations and churches in outreach planning and activities


  • Scheduling and Communication – Maintain the pastor’s calendars, schedule appointments and meetings, order and organize near and long-term activities, and help protect pastoral priorities; coordinate complex meeting schedules for various lay teams; manage email inboxes and folders; compose correspondence; research and drafts proposals
  • General Administrative Responsibilities – Coordinate management of the day-to-day administration of pastors; manage special projects as they arise; prepare and process reimbursement requests, perform copy requests; make travel arrangements as needed; help oversee budget for the office; coordinate financial processes; help track work schedules for pastor’s direct reports; coordinate with finance department to ensure accurate reporting
  • Mission trips – prepare initial work orders for informational meetings; prepare announcements, schedule commissioning of individuals/teams going on mission; reserve vehicles and obtain mission insurance; organize mission forums including room/lunch reservations, tracking participant in-take forms, and collecting fees
  • Assist with special events (ordering, greeting, scheduling, etc.)
  • Help facilitate the planning and communication of mission trips
  • Give administrative support to and take an interactive role with mission teams
  • Technologically proficient and creative. Able to learn and leverage resources in new ways (Word, Excel, Outlook/Exchange, PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, Social media, web)
  • Develop, maintain and distribute calendars for mission events
  • Strong ability to organize and communicate effectively
  • Update volunteer rosters for various projects
  • Create and distribute all materials needed for communication in conjunction with Missions Pastor
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, conferences, and other executive events; provide appropriate equipment/materials and provide hospitality services
  • Provide office support by answering telephones, greeting visitors, and updating Church Family Prayer List (which includes the hospital information line) as needed


  • Attend all meetings deemed appropriate by Missions Pastor
  • Give additional support to the Administrative Manager as needed
  • Understand and embrace Emotional Healthy Spirituality as created by Peter Scazzero


  • Have an active church membership and show evidence of a Christian character
  • Personal experience in introducing individuals to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Heart for missions
  • Must be able to prioritize and delegate effectively
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity
  • High school degree or equivalent required – college training a plus
  • 3-5 years of office experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Leadership, organizational skills and a customer-service orientation
  • Team player – works well with church staff and partner agencies; strong integration skills; approachable and engaging with people
  • Project Management – Oversee, manage, coordinate and complete various projects as assigned
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into action items and execute on them
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Apple office suites, social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and internet functions
