Bon Air Baptist Church

June 10, 2014

Dear Bon Air Family,

The Pastor Search Team has been meeting and has agreed upon the following covenant which all members signed and dated on June 2nd.  We feel it is important that you know our commitment to you and the search process and that we communicate regularly about our progress.  Thank you for your confidence in us individually and as a team.

Pastor Search Team Covenant

We, the members of the Pastor Search Team, have been entrusted with the responsibility of recommending a Senior Pastor to lead this congregation. We need and request the active and faithful participation of the congregation in fervent prayer as we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us in the Lord's work.

We solemnly enter the following covenant together before the Lord:

A covenant of prayer. All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer (Acts 1:14a).  We agree to pray daily for each other and for the work of the church.

A covenant of trust.  We will trust the Lord with all of our hearts and lean not unto our own understanding.   In all our ways we will acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

A covenant of commitment.  We will be devoted to one another in love, honor one another above ourselves (Romans 12:10) and hold each other accountable for the task we have been given.

A covenant of communication.  We will speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).  In our committee discussions and in our private conversations we will speak openly and honestlyThe freedom for all to think out loud and express feelings is essential for the search process.

A covenant of confidentiality.  Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove to be faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2).  Out of respect for potential candidates, and for team deliberations, specific details will be kept confidential until the appropriate time.  Regular progress reports will be provided to the congregation.

A covenant of diligence.  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another...(Hebrews 10:24-25).

A covenant of unity.  Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:3).  We will work diligently in order to present to the congregation a unified recommendation.
