Tom is married to Paula, a school teacher by passion, and they have two daughters, Lindsey and Ashley. Tom is the son of missionaries and spent his formative years in Zambia, central Africa. Returning from overseas, he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Mars Hill College, Masters in Sociology from Appalachian State University, Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.
Vocationally, Tom served as a journeyman missionary to the West Indies, Consultant for the Baptist State Convention of NC, pastored in Roanoke, VA, and just prior to BABC served as a Field Strategist for the Baptist General Association of VA.
Tom enjoys playing handball and golf and serving as a police chaplain for over 20 years.
A native of Virginia Beach, Liz is a digital communications leader with over 15 years of experience developing and managing best-in-class digital strategies. Recently, Liz has been Managing Editor of the Richmond Moms Blog and the owner of two small businesses. Liz spent her formative years as a member of First Baptist Church Norfolk and was an active member at HRBC for many years. Liz and her husband, Dan, live in Bon Air with their two children, Ryan and Rachel.
Kim joined the staff of Bon Air Baptist Church (BABC) in 2006 after serving in volunteer positions including the Director of Girls in Action missions for many years. She is grateful for the many mentors and ministries within BABC that have blessed her family and encouraged her ministry work. Now, as the Children’s Ministry Pastor of the Buford Road Campus, Kim guides the ministry teachers and shepherds kids and their families. Kim has a passion for people, especially children. She is married to Tim and has three children and three grandsons.
Stuart has been at Bon Air since February, 2019, having served churches in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and South Carolina prior to that. A graduate of Samford University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, he is married to the former Robyn Noland, and they have two daughters.
His passion is planning and leading worship. Through music and through personal relationships he loves connecting people with our great God. His hobbies include hiking, history (especially WWII), woodworking, golf, and travel.
Daniel has a heart for Jesus and a desire to usher people into an awareness of his presence. After meeting Katie, now his wife, the two began seeking God’s plan and purpose for them as a couple. A native of Helsingborg, Sweden, Daniel has lived in the U.S. for 13 years where he has performed in various musicals on and off Broadway and toured with bands throughout the country. Katie and Daniel founded Passion Academy, a local School for the Arts that trains, equips and mobilizes people of all ages who want to pursue music and dance disciplines. While serving as interim worship leaders with the JRC, they fell in love with the community and sensed a strong calling to be part of our church family. Together with their sons, Lukas and Theo, Daniel and Katie call Bon Air home.
Mac and his wife, Amy, came to Bon Air Baptist in September 2011. Not long after joining the staff of Bon Air Baptist Church, their daughter, Addy, was born. Mac is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina and received his Master of Divinity degree from The Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and his Doctorate of Ministry from the Samuel Proctor Dewitt School of Theology. Mac has a heart for relationships as he loves to connect people to God and to one another. When not at church one can find Mac spending time with him family, learning martial arts, writing, and drinking coffee.
Greg is a former pastry chef. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. During his career he has worked in numerous venues which include: the Richmond Coliseum and most recently at Richmond International Raceway. Greg and his wife, Jamie, have one son, Aaden.
In 2015, Amy first came to the James River Campus as a visitor with her husband, Joe, and their daughter, Cora. They fell in love with the JRC and felt called to make Bon Air Baptist their church home. Later that year, they were blessed with a baby boy, Tyler. Over the last two years, Amy and Joe have been involved in many areas of ministry. Their passion for the Lord has been instrumental in fostering the strong sense of community we share at the JRC. As the JRC Children's Pastor, Amy's passion is helping children feel connected to the Gospel and learning about the unfailing love of Jesus.
Randy came to Bon Air Baptist Church in 2001 to serve as an audio technician for The Gathering worship service. The service grew and Randy is now the Director of Media at Bon Air Baptist. Randy worked for WDBJ-TV 18 years and has 25 years of experience in broadcasting. He owns a company specializing in designing and installing audio, video and lighting systems. Randy produces multi-media elements for our contemporary worship services and oversees the audio and video systems at Bon Air Baptist Church. Randy and his wife Maria, have 3 wonderful children.
Rebecca is a Richmond native. She has a Master's Degree in Teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University, and taught history for four years in Chesterfield County Public Schools. She played Division I soccer in college and has a heart for recreation. She lives in Bon Air with her husband and five boys.
Preschool Pastor/Weekday School Director, Buford Road Campus
Peggy joined the Bon Air Baptist staff in 1994 as the Director of Weekday Ministries. She now serves in that role and that of Preschool Coordinator. These preschool activities at Bon Air Baptist include Sunday school, iKIDS, parent-child dedications, and special events for our preschool families. Peggy is a graduate of George Mason University. She and her family have been members of Bon Air Baptist for over 20 years.
Katherine is a Bon Air native, and 3rd generation member of BABC. Growing up here in the church, she appreciated the Bible studies, mission work, and youth choir experiences that led up to the plans God had for her life. Katherine directed the Children's Ministry program and musicals at another local congregation for 12 years, along with leading on a Worship Team for 15 years. The Lord led her back to BABC in 2012, where she has served as a vocalist on the Gathering Praise Team, and in special events with the Sanctuary Choir. Leading others to an intimate relationship with Christ through music and worship is her heartfelt passion! Katherine is grateful to God for her husband Todd, an Henrico Firefighter, and 3 children, Justus, Jaden, and Sirene.
Campus Pastor, James River Campus and Assoc. Pastor for Multi-Site
In 2006, after a successful a career in the business world, John came on staff as our first campus pastor and launched the James River Campus. Since this time, John has played an integral leadership role in our Multi-Site ministry at all Bon Air campuses. John has a Master's degree from George Fox Evangelical Seminary. In 2014, John was named the Person of the Year for the Robious Corridor. He and his wife, Lee Ann, are the proud parents of two and grandparents of three.
Paul came to Bon Air Baptist Church in 2018. He previously held controllership roles at the University of Virginia, McLean Bible Church, and General Electric. He has served on various boards including an international agency caring for orphans.
Paul is a graduate of William and Mary with a degree in Accounting. He and his wife Linda are blessed with three grown sons and a daughter in college.
Deb joined the staff of Bon Air Baptist Church in August 2007. A native of Virginia, she earned a B.A. from Averett University, a M.Ed. from the University of Louisville, and a M.M.L. from Rockbridge Seminary. Through the years she has served in churches and denominational life as a pastor’s wife, an educator, a missionary, and a minister to children. Deborah is married to Dr. John Upton, Jr., Executive Director of the Baptist General Association of Virginia. Deb enjoys being with her children and especially her grandchildren.
Chris hails from Fredericksburg, VA by way of Waynesboro. He has served in congregational student ministry in the greater Richmond area as well as collegiate campus ministry at JMU in Harrisonburg. He celebrates having a beautiful and brilliant redheaded family of Lacey, his wife, and Bennett, his son. Chris earned a Bachelor’s in Biology from Shenandoah University where he played for their varsity men’s soccer squad, and earned a Master’s of Divinity from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond.
Chris is a fan of the sporty and nerdy sides to life. He has a passion for soccer, NCAA basketball and sci-fi movies, while dabbling in playing guitar.
